5 Ways to Boost Your Confidence

5 Ways to Boost Your Confidence - PleaseNotes

Imagine being able to walk into any room and have the strength, courage, and confidence to tackle any obstacle in your way. Now try to picture yourself after taking big risks and feeling confident and happy that you’re working towards your goals every day. Self-confidence is just that, as it is the feeling of having trust in your own abilities, qualities and judgement. Self-confident people are more likely to experience success in all aspects of their life because they always take risks and don’t fear the failure of what might go wrong. Self-confidence is crucial to your health and psychological well-being, so I’m going to go over a few steps you can take to boost your self-confidence today.

Step #1- Align with the Right People

It is crucial to have a circle of friends around you that will support and uplift you to help you achieve your goals. If you hang around with the wrong group of friends, they will bring you down and laugh at your dreams, making it hard for you to stay motivated and focused on what you genuinely want to do. Having the right group of friends is the best way to enjoy success in life because they will help keep you motivated and hold you accountable on those days you are slacking and don't want to do any work. The friends around you directly affect the way you see the world, how you think, and your attitudes towards yourself and your dreams the most. So, if you’re hanging out with the wrong crowd, don't be afraid to say goodbye, and look to foster relationships with people who will love you and want the best for you every day.

Step #2- Take Care of your Health

You’re not going to feel good about yourself if you continue to lounge around and eat junk food all day. By taking care of your body, you’re working towards getting better each day. This does wonders for your physical and mental health because self-care has been linked to boost self-confidence over time naturally. To do this, start by working out for 10 minutes a day. Working out for that little bit of time every day will help you establish a routine that you feel is easily achievable. Once you get into the habit of working out each day, you can move the duration up to 20 minutes, then 30 minutes, then 45 minutes, and so on. This will help get you out of the routine of lounging around doing nothing each day.

Once you feel confident in your exercise routine, you can practice the same technique with your diet. Instead of grabbing those chips on the counter, go for something that energetically feels good, nourishing, and restorative. By switching these smaller items daily, you will eventually get into the habit of getting through your workouts and eating healthier. Once you get this habit down, start to increase your healthy food choices until you are eating a well balanced diet. These changes can compound over time and will help you achieve higher levels of self-confidence and self-esteem. When you change the way you fuel yourself, you’ll see a marked difference.  Some people have referred to this as intuitive eating where every food can be eaten, as long as it’s eaten from a place of joy.  This increased energy will also increase motivation which can help you work towards your goals and feel better about yourself moving forward. So go out there and start trying to implement small changes to your routine today. Challenge yourself to work out for ten minutes over the next five days and see the wonders it will have for your self-confidence!

Step #3 - Don’t Fear Failure

We have all been in a position where we could have asked for a promotion or asked somebody out on a date and then turned back because we felt scared of what would happen if we were rejected. I’m here to tell you it’s okay to fail!!

Failure is a part of life and allows you to learn, grow and experience things that could change your life. It is the biggest stepping stone to becoming a more self-confident person. Think of failure that is part of the journey towards your end goal. No matter how many times you fail, you must take those experiences and use them to become better for the next. Overtime this can help change your mindset so that you can walk into any situation without the fear of failure in the back of your head.

Preventing yourself from taking those risks could result in many negative consequences and stunt your growth because you’re not improving and wanting to get better. Taking those leaps into the deep end, not scared of how the situation will turn out, your mindset will shift and allow you to achieve your dreams. The confidence that comes from taking these chances in yourself can help you continue to try new difficult things you might have never done before, enabling you to grow and gain even more confidence in yourself moving forward.

Therefore, if you want to ask your boss for a promotion or ask that one particular person out on a date, do it! What’s the worst that can happen. You get a little embarrassed and learn for the next time you approach a scenario like that. It sounds like a win to me!

Step #4- Set Realistic Goals

No one knows where you are in life but yourself! You are the only person who knows the capability of your skillset, qualifications and experience. You must wake up every day with the proper plan of action to increase your skill set and diminish the weaknesses you feel are holding you back. The best way to do this is to set a realistic expectation initially because you will be more motivated after achieving these smaller goals. When you can consistently meet these small daily expectations, you can translate that into bigger ones in the future. The best way to do this is to create a plan of action. By using a planner, you can create daily to-do lists with weekly, monthly and yearly goals. Make sure that these daily lists work towards your long term plans so that you are more motivated. Over time, these small wins will create unmatched confidence, allowing you to set bigger goals and use the Law of Attraction to your favor in order to feel confident you will follow through with what you wrote down. Grab a daily planner today and start setting goals of where you want to be next week, month, year and so on. This will help you create the confidence and happiness you truly deserve!

Set #5- Create Positive Self-talk

To become the most confident version of yourself, you must practice positive self-talk that can help you practice self-compassion, gratitude and rethink situations. Suppose you are constantly participating in negative self-talk. In that case, it can limit your abilities to grow because you are always putting yourself down, so you won’t have the confidence to approach new situations with an open mind. This will make you say things like, “no, I can’t do that, it’s too hard,” or “why would I waste my time.” The best way to combat this thinking process is to practice positive self-talk. Journaling can be a great way to help you write down your thoughts and sort through the ones that might be negative. By writing these thoughts down, you can highlight those negative ones and create positive sentences out of them. This will help you see both sides of the scenario and can create more clarity and gratitude. Reframing those negative thought processes with new positive thought processes through journaling can change your life and help you highlight what’s important to you. This constant positive self-talk will create the confidence in yourself to walk into any room and overcome any obstacle that stands in front of you.
